Business Development Representative
Are you a budding salesperson with an interest in the world of marketing and media? Great news - our client, Search + Gather, is looking for their next bright mind to join the team as a Business Development Representative! S + G is a small and mighty marketing agency in the Toronto space, doing incredible work in performance marketing for a wide variety of clients.
As a BDR, you’ll work very closely with S + G’s senior leadership to drive business growth and facilitate both outbound and inbound sales. This role is perfect for someone who has 1+ year in Business Development or Sales and who has an understanding or innate curiosity about how the media landscape functions. You’ll be key in lead generation, initial outreach, relationship development and pitch development. You must also have the drive and passion required to work in an agency setting with lots of moving parts.

Key Responsibilities
As a Business Development Representative you will:
- Work with the Growth team to execute strategies to generate leads and expand our client base through outbound sales activities, including cold calling, networking, and social media outreach
- Facilitate and nurture assigned inbound leads and managing your own outbound leads, ensuring prompt and professional follow-up to facilitate discovery calls and subsequent meetings to convert leads into clients
- Coordinate and collaborate with the team to respond to assigned RFPs, preparing compelling proposals that highlight our agency's strengths and value proposition
- Build and maintain strong relationships with potential clients, understanding their needs and working with the team to recommend suitable digital marketing solutions in the pitch, proposal and upsell stages
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, contributing to the success of the client satisfaction program
- Collaborate with the leadership and growth team to align sales strategies with marketing campaigns and initiatives
- Stay ahead of industry trends, competitive landscape, and digital marketing innovations to inform strategic decisions and identify new business opportunities
- Achieve and exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets
- Provide feedback to the leadership team on market trends, competitive threats, and opportunities to deliver greater value to our clients
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- 1+ years in sales, working on inbound and outbound leads and proposals, preferably within the digital marketing, advertising, startup or SaaS sales
- Strong understanding of digital marketing services and how they can benefit clients.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a scale-up environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically and creatively.
- Proficient in Google Suite/Microsoft Suite, with exposure to CRMs
Even better if you have these nice-to-haves:
- Experience working on paid and search ad platforms (Facebook Ads, Google Ads, Amazon Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Microsoft Ads, etc) or in digital advertising sales
- Being proactive and self motivated, highly curious and collaborative.
- An analytical and creative mindset, with an ability to pitch strategies and present insights to prospective clients
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to collaborate on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment
- Strong communication skills both internally and client facing with a friendly demeanor and the ability to clearly deliver rationale for strategic approaches
- Confidence in your work and communication, especially during client interactions
- The ability to accept constructive feedback and apply changes where required
- Working in a fast paced agency environment handling deals from various industries
- Task management/Gantt chart software (e.g. Asana, Clickup, Monday.com).
